Grossly incompetent IT Staff at San Mateo County

The Information Technology (IT) Staff at San Mateo County exhibits GROSS INCOMPETENCE!

San Mateo County IT Staff
Recently, convicted child molester and alleged psychiatrist william hamilton ayres was up for a parole hearing, but apparently none of the victims were notified prior to (or even after) the hearing was held.

According to San Mateo County DA Wagstaffe, he has tried to be proactive in following Marsy's Law regarding notifying victims of such hearings (see KCBS Story (pdf)) in light of recent violations of California's "Crime Victims Bill of Rights." He says that he has instructed his staff as a matter of "office policy" to inform victims of such hearings in all cases.

According to Almanacnews.com (pdf)  writer D Boyce, Wagstaffe says that he "was able to look into the issue of notification of the victims prior to the medical parole hearing for William Ayres."  but that unfortunately when he asked a detective via email to notify victims, the message "was somehow thrown into the police agency blocked emails"

So yet again, we see that DA Wagstaffe's valiant fight against evil is stymied by San Mateo County's UTTERLY INCOMPETENT Information Technology staff. Here we are, in the HEART of Silicon Valley, and we can't even find decent IT staff to configure email servers such that intra-department county email actually makes it all the way to the intended in-box. For Shame -- Every one of these incompetent computer folks should be terminated post-haste! </sarcasm>

Let me just see if I have this right, Mr. Wagstaffe:
Somehow, IT has set up blocking filters on the Police Department's email servers, such that email from THE FUCKING DISTRICT ATTORNEY is not allowed through to the Detectives, AND nobody has noticed it until just now... Is that what you're saying, Mr. DA?

william hamilton ayres was arrested on April 5, 2007 on charges relating to his molestation of many young boys while he was alleging to provide psychiatric care to private patients as well as referrals for evaluation from the juvenile court system in San Mateo County. After years of  playing demented for the courts, ayres plead "No Contest" and was found guilty of all charges against him on May 16, 2013. ayres was sentenced to 8 years in prison on August 26, 2013. ayres is no longer under the conservatorship of his daughter Barbara Ayres of Sacramento, CA

ayres has had significant interaction over the years with local politicians on boards like the "Children and Families First Commission,"  including the DA who was serving when prosecution began Jim Fox and Assemblyman Rich Gordon. In fact, Gordon nominated ayres for a lifetime achievement award for his "Tireless effort to improve the lives of children." ayres has also been vocally supported during his criminal trial by local head-shrinkers like Bart BlinderEtta BryantMel BlausteinHarry CorenTom CieslaRobert KimmichLarry LurieMaria LymberisRichard ShadoanCaptane Thomson, and Harold Wallach.

  1. Wagstaffe is just making shit up, of course. He needs to produce the email he says his office sent out. He won't of course, because there isn't one. He is famous for blaming email mixups when his office fails to notify victims and press of developments and arrests.

  2. In at least a half dozen cases when his office has screwed up, or been exposed as hiding a big case from the press, the weak Wagstaffe falls back on the same email excuse. He is a liar. He was sent a warning by the California State Bar in 2010 after they caught him lying to the press about the facts of inmate Jambri Johnson's case. Little good the warning did. Wagstaffe lied repeatedly to the press about the facts of the Cevasco molestation case, shortly after he received the warning from the State Bar. He needs to go.

Wagstaffe has to cough up the email he said his office sent to the detective about Ayres' parole hearing. NOW. Although why they would send it to the detective, who has never notified victims about hearings before now, is a question the Bar should be asking

  3. We now know that DA Wagstaffe never included the parole hearing of Ayres- who conservatively has molested over 1000 boys- on his daily "Cases of Interest " list to the press. BUT he did find the time last week to put this on the press list- a parole hearing for a nobody: http://www.smdailyjournal.com/articles/lnews/2016-03-18/parole-denied-for-2001-murder-sergio-pena-to-remain-in-prison-for-stabbing-anthony-tolua-at-san-carlos-party/1776425160287.html

Is Wagstaffe taking payments from criminal defendants to keep the public in the dark about them? The Luke Lonergan child pornography case, the Ayres case.... Hope the FBI is still looking into Wagstaffe

  4. Freedom of Information request has been filed with San Mateo County Counsel by a relative of a victim, requesting release of all emails from San Mateo County DA's office to "detective who worked the case" asking him to notify victims of parole hearing. *cough." Watch for County Counsel to stonewall.

The twin brother of an Ayres victim who was from MENLO PARK has just filed a Freedom of Information request to San Mateo County Counsel, requesting that all emails pertaining to the San Mateo DA's alleged request to a detective who worked the Ayres case about notifying the victims of Ayres' parole hearing, be released.

A copy of this FOIA request has been sent today to the Almanac editors. The victims are grateful to Almanac reporter Dave Boyce for being the first- and only- reporter to confront DA Wagstaffe on this matter. We are calling on the Almanac to also file a FOIA request to have the "alleged "emails from the San Mateo DA's office to a detective released. Given the failure of the DA's office to notify victims about any hearing over the last nine years, the victims deserve answers.

  6. Hey, Deep: A public records request revealed today that contrary to what lying' Steve Wagstaffe said, the San Mateo District Attorney's email to the police, asking for assistance in notifying victims of Ayres' parole was NOT sent to a "police agency blocked email" folder. In fact, San Mateo Police Chief Susan Manheimer received the email and told San Mateo Police Captain Jack Ratcliffe to "keep track" of the notification. She also asked him to "be prepared to comment if this hits the media."

So Wagstaffe out and out lied. Disgusting and a disgrace. And why was Chief Manheimer more concerned about the media than notifying the victims? Why did Wagstaffe not include the Ayres parole hearing on his daily press list, yet he listed parole hearings of criminals no one's ever heard of? Do a piece on this Deep!

  7. Is it possible that Wagstaffe hid Ayres' medical parole hearing from the press and the victims because he had ordered prosecutor Mckowan to argue for Ayres' compassionate release?
