Channel 10 News in Sacramento is reporting:

Father Michael Kelly, Found liable for child sex abuse for molesting a young boy at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Stockton in the mid-1980s, and currently under criminal investigation in another separate, child sex abuse case, has fled the country for Ireland.

I'm Shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you....

He should have just asked for a change of venue to San Molesteo County.

[Update: 4/18/2012]:
There is now some coverage in Ireland about Kelly's return there. It would appear from comments that local folks would like Kelly to return home to face his accusers:

  1. Whoa! You won't find any Kelly supporters in Ireland.. Perhaps someone should be tailing him in Tipperary?

  2. It was really a STUPID move on Kelly's part to flee to Ireland. As a result of his crazy and cowardly action, what was once strictly a local Stockton story is now on its way to becoming a national story. It's just been covered by the Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times

During testimony Wednesday morning, Vicar General Monsignor Richard Ryan, the second-ranking Stockton Diocese official, testified that a Bay Area psychologist recommended in a report around 2000 that Kelly be reassigned to a job in the diocese in which he wasn't around children and their families due to potential pedophiliac tendencies.

  4. While Kelly cowardly hides out in an Ireland rectory, he sends his supporters a sickening and narcissistic email:

The first thing I want to tell you all is that none of you have any idea how much your support and your prayers continue to mean to me. It was those prayers and support that got me through the past four and a half nightmare years, and especially the court case and its unjust verdict. I did none of those things I was accused of.

Some people have emailed me of other allegations being brought up, I can tell you that I did none of those things, either. I will maintain my complete innocence until my last breath. God knows, and I know, that it isn't true.
