Back during the trial, some little birdy must have immediately notified the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry- an association that Ayres was once president of- after Ayres got up and testified that he was still a member of that organization.
Because on July 23, 2009- while the trial was still going on, the Academy terminated Ayres' membership.
"He was notified in writing by certified letter," said Rob Grant, communications director of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. "Our termination policy for members is a carbon copy of the APA's; once your license has been suspended or terminated, your membership is terminated."
Good to know Ayres won't be able to pull this little stunt at the next trial. We can't wait to hear the prosecutor tell the jury that his precious memberships have been terminated!!!
A child psychiatrist from the East Coast who belongs to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry said that at each annual meeting, the past presidents stand on the stage. Ayres is clearly not invited now. He said there is a lot of shame and embarrassment among the Academy members about Ayres-who is now considered a black stain on the association. "People don't dare talk about him anymore, because of the humiliation he brought upon the Academy," the psychiatrist said.
ReplyDeleteIt should also be noted that just after the news stories came out that Ayres had settled a civil suit with a victim a few years ago, Ayres did not attend the annual meeting. According to another child psychiatrist who trained with Ayres at Judge Baker, Ayres' wife Solveig did. This child psychiatrist said he was shocked when Solveig went around the meeting,badmouthing the victim. The question is, if the Ayres felt so indisposed towards this victim, why in God's name did they pay him all that money? No one who is innocent of the charges would ever pay off someone. They would be fighting tooth and nail every step of this way.
This former Judge Baker colleague of Ayres said that many thought it was very bad form of Mrs. Ayres to badmouth the victim at the meeting.
